Software Engineer (PHP)

A really fast-paced SaaS organisation based in Edinburgh are looking for a couple Software Engineers ( PHP) to join their core product function offering really flexible working and modern tech.
They’ve been running successfully now for over ten years and have over 100+ customers that use their product daily – they’re designed to improve / speed up some business operations and cut down on paper waste. Their product is widely used throughout the UK and they’ve recently started to take on new business in the EU, and have got big plans for the next few years.
Their development function is currently over 20 strong, and they work in small Agile squads , each with different project work, with a good focus on feature building. There is two Software Engineer positions open with the organisation in two different squads, in each you’d find yourself working within a team of roughly five with a very similar tech stack.
The company work with really modern tech; PHP, Symfony, AWS, VueJS and TypeScript. Although experience with all of this would be great, they’re really open to confident Software Engineers with good exposure to PHP (and ideally a framework) that is open and able to pick up the rest of their tech stack.
They’re really committed to delivering well-built and tested applications so it probably comes as no surprise that they are a ‘ best practices’ environment and are looking for Software Engineers with a really good understanding with software fundamentals ( SOLID, Design Patterns etc).
You’ll ideally have experience with most of the following;
** PHP8
** PHP Frameworks (Ideally Symfony)
** HTML, CSS and JavaScript
** Strong communication skills
The following is highly desirable;
** DevOps knowledge / experience
** AWS
** Modern JavaScript frameworks; VueJS
This role would suit an ambitious Software Engineer looking to join a strong technical environment, there is lots of opportunities to upskill and progress with your career here.
They’re based in central Edinburgh , with good links to public transport and onsite parking. For the first three months you’ll be expected onsite three days a week to help you familiarise yourself with the role, tech, product and team. Once you’re up to speed you’re able to work fully remote – providing you pop in for the big meetings.
In return they can offer a salary from £30k to £50k for this role + a fairly comprehensive list of benefits.
