Role Type: Full Time

About Rotate° We are a digital studio based in East London creating cutting-edge (Not cookie cutter) eCommerce.

Our complete offering of Engineering, Design & Strategy craft unique solutions for unique business problems, all delivered under one roof. And no compromises on creativity and performance.

It’s a relaxed but fast-paced environment where we really take pride in our work. Together we create value and build memorable digital experiences.

About the role The hunt for a Head of Design role at Rotate° involves finding the right person to lead, manage, and grow our small (but mighty) design team…. Ultimately to take the Design offering to the next level at Rotate°.

You will help cultivate and improve our internal design processes for the team and be a key contributor to our partners product strategy, providing guidance on output and facilitating collaboration.

The Head of Design will have a broad oversight of our creative output, lead in Discovery and Vision phases and understand the minutiae of our workflows. You’ll support multiple projects to completion, providing the resources and even-keeled management your team needs to consistently deliver best-in-class work.

As Head of Design you’ll also function as the creative point person for our partners, ensuring a healthy relationship with frequent updates and team collaboration (Tech x Creative x Product) to create beautiful and effective experiences.

Essential skills At least 2 years experience in a similar (Head of Design) role.

7+ years of agency experience in digital design with tonnes of eCommerce projects, working from research all the way through to delivery.

Experience managing and mentoring designers.

Experience working in an Agile methodology and working in cross-functional teams.

Ability to lead a workshop(s) to extract information from decision makers, articulate and communicate into a strategic vision, then seamlessly zoom into small but important details for the delivery team.

Experience working with research and data to drive decision making.

Able to get your hands dirty and help the team and our clients achieve the desired outcomes, setting the standard along the way.

Excellent verbal, written, presentational, and interpersonal communication skills. An eye for detail is a must.

Management skills to mentor, supervise and skills to nurture a culture of collaboration and improvement amongst the Design department.

A self-starter able to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, and succeed in a variety of settings.

Open to, and reacts well to, feedback and looks for opportunities to improve how to work well together within the team.

Responsibilities Balance creativity and – often in conflict to – convention of our Design output.

Line management of creative team, including the resourcing of the projects they are scheduled on.

Guiding the design team to follow best-practice (or know when to break it), internal processes and push for industry-setting innovations.

You will be part of the Leadership team at Rotate°, with department OKRs. You will have the autonomy and accountability to meet those as you see fit.

Tactical initiatives to grow and improve the Design department and offering.

Supervising delivery on the design lifecycle from concept to delivery across a project portfolio, ensuring the outcome is of the best design quality with input from user insights, analytics, brand and validated through testing.

Be an advocate for users, whether they are members, prospect or colleagues, and inform decisions and design direction through user research.

Collaborate with other disciplines within the business; Design, Engineering and Product all in harmony to provide more holistic, more considered solutions.

Stay up-to-date with digital and market trends to adapt ways of working and influence design and digital direction.

Understand best practices in Design Thinking and User Experience approaches and how to apply them.

A solid understanding and passion for detailed interaction and information design.

Use tools such as Figma/FigJam, Pitch and analytics tools such as Google Analytics and MS Clarity.
