MD - JV N01 Lounges

OBJECTIVE

Overall running of all functions within the Swissport ALD Holdings Joint Venture (JV) airport lounges network including full accountability of delivering the strategy for the JV. A P&L accountable role against agreed budgets approved by the JV board. The role will be part of and work closely with the JV Board as well as both Shareholders leading the development of the group’s business strategy for UK-based operations and any other opportunities which arise. This is a senior leadership role focused on getting the best from the team of JV Directors/Managers, the location Airport Managers and their direct teams. Overarching responsibility to effectively manage and motivate the entire team, delivering excellent service standards based upon board agreed key performance targets. Initially restarting the business post COVID-19 Pandemic ultimately returning the business to circa GBP £40+ million turnover achieving acquisition business case ROI.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance

Ensuring all airport operations are fully compliant, in line with legislation, airport requirements, company practices and policies.

Full budgetary compliance, including full P&L responsibility, capacity management, passenger targets, consumption and F&B related costs, staffing costs and other operational KPIs, and overall profitability and impact on group EBITDA.

Lead contact for the JV banking partners ensuring there is compliance with the financial covenants as well as reporting process to stay within contracted funding parameters.

Chair JV board meetings, preparing boards packs and issuing minutes in conjunction with the Company Secretary ensuring all minuted actions are completed within deadlines set by the board.

Where necessary, implement new systems and procedures to ensure compliance in all areas.

People

Setting the tone for the company developing a Vision and Mission that supports business objectives aligning the brand portfolio with propositions appropriate to target audiences.

Through Vision & Mission lead a people first initiative that ensures there is full engagement at all levels developing culture where all colleagues understand the importance of their contribution to the overall business’s success.

Strategic and timely recruitment pipelining to ensure that all airport operations are staffed optimally.

Develop a progression pathway for all levels where colleagues are aware of the opportunities that will be available to them through their career with the JV.

Business succession planning to ensure all roles are filled by competent leaders ensuring business continuity as well as a progression plan supported by appraised objectives.

Managing performance issues, as necessary.

Finance, Strategic & Transformation

Work closely with the Finance Director to ensure there is appropriate financial rigour in all areas, including published stat accounts supported by appointed auditors to ensure subsequent findings are acted on accordingly.

Develop a finance led organisation introducing business partnering to ensure all levels of management are financial literate.

Integration of entity finance functions under one umbrella structure that manages the business consistently in approach to AP, AR, Treasury and Management Accounts.

Build budgets and forecasts that meet or exceed business case targets delivering against acquisition business ROI.

Customer & Service Standards

Ensuring all airport operations are aware of the strategy to deliver service to SHAPE or other developed service initiatives.

Maintaining a high stand of customer service benchmarked through KPI’s such as NPS, consumer feedback and continual development as well as understanding of hospitality market tends.

Work with all customers building appropriate business collaborations that are for the benefit of the group retaining all contracts at appropriate pricing.

Work with each shareholder to understand as well as deliver against their needs for the group e.g., vertical integration of customer activity developing initiatives that supports this and drives sustainable ROI.

Evaluating and improving lounge operations to ensure they are operating in line with overall strategy and in line with company SOPs, policies, and procedures.

Develop integrated digital initiatives to support website and direct sales generating increased yield from the consumer audience against agreed budgetary targets.

Work with each shareholder to evaluate systems needs and develop integrated business systems that make the operation more efficient as well as securing increased revenue through utilisation of lounge assets.

Pipeline

Ongoing evaluation of opportunities to develop the group extending the footprint of the network in support of each shareholder e.g., opportunities to add existing lounges in current airport locations as well as beyond, subject to shareholder approval.

Renewal of lease or license arrangements with landlord partners to sustain the network.

General

Comply with all policies and procedures as written in the Employment Handbook and with appropriate information security standards and guidelines

Uphold confidentiality at all times and take reasonable precautions to protect the information accessed or used in your work

Willingness to help other team members wherever possible and to understand the flexibility required when business levels peak and trough

To undertake any reasonable requests made of you by the Company including flexibility in hours, location and responsibilities
