This results in some significant anxieties, sensory sensitivities, including what would present as OCD behaviours.He has a particular keen interest in online/video gaming. A shared interest in this regard would be advantageous.You would need to have experience of the PDA profile of Autism and demonstrate a working knowledge of supporting someone with this diagnosis. You would be a positive, emotionally intelligent person and excited by the opportunity to spend time with someone and make a difference to their quality of life. Spending time and building a positive relationship in the family home.
Connect with this person initially through a shared interest of video gaming.
Progress to accessing the community, focussing on areas of interest and enjoyment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience and awareness of PDA & Autism is essential.
The role would come with comprehensive training, but we are looking for someone who has experience working in this sector. Relevant NVQ qualifications are desirable.
A positive and patient demeanour.
A genuine desire to spend time with a person and assist with their needs and aspirations.
