Housing Support Worker

Seven Resourcing are looking for Housing Support Worker to work in Halifax. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying between £12.18ph PAYE or £15.53ph Umbrella.  This role is full time Monday to Friday 9am-5:30pm. MUST DRIVE

The role:

Support new refugees to settle in Calderdale, providing support in their accommodation, apply for benefits, secure health, education, and other services and integrate into their local communities. A balance between working from home and from a designated council workplace allocation, attending other workplaces as required. 3 roles available. All working with refugee, Domestic abuse, Modern Slavery, Substance misuse, and complex needs service users.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a keyworker to a small number of clients staying in safe accommodation who have complex needs. This includes providing intensive flexible support to people with multiple issues including drug/alcohol and mental health issues but with a focus on domestic abuse.

Assess and identify needs, co-producing support plans with service users based on a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach taking the lead co-ordination role where necessary.

Complete comprehensive risk/safety assessments and plans in line with relevant Calderdale Safeguarding policies and procedures including the Calderdale DASH risk assessment, ensuring that safeguarding practice is embedded within working practices to effectively support those at risk.

Advise and assist clients to obtain the benefits payments, health, and social care to which they may be entitled. This may include attending appointments with clients and advocating for them when needed.

Ensure that residents comply with licence agreements and initiate action when a breach of the agreement occurs, including collecting charges due for residents and strive to ensure that arrears do not accrue.

Attend relevant meetings including MARAC, as well as plan and arrange specific case meetings and reviews e.g. MDT's (Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings) and act as 'Lead professional' where appropriate, understanding the barriers clients may face and promoting a flexible response.

Assist clients to secure and move into settled accommodation and to understand their responsibilities as tenants and how to sustain their tenancy, ensuring that continued support is in place where appropriate.

Work using a trauma informed approach, prioritising the emotional safety and wellbeing of the client. Liaise with the Housing Options Team and provide information necessary to determine the

Council's duties under homelessness legislation and make the statutory decision to bring any homelessness duty to an end.

Ensure that case records (both written and electronic) are comprehensive, accurate and up to date.

Develop and deliver regular therapeutic support through activities for the client with particular emphasis on restoring positive outcomes in their emotional wellbeing and enable a strong working relationship between the client and support worker.

Applicant Requirements:

Experience: 2 years' experience in a similar role.

Compliance: 2 years references & Enhanced DBS

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
