Role Description
We are looking for a proactive, self motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Sheffield.
Ideally you will have a background working in a consultant environment and be experienced in the core Quantity Surveying duties which will include but not be limited to:
Producing Bills of Quantities and Pricing Schedules
Drafting Cost Estimates, Cost Reports and Cashflow Forecasts
Drafting and advising on JCT and NEC forms of contract
Managing the Tender process and producing Tender packages
Undertaking Valuations and Final Account discussions
Managing cost control generally throughout a project and offering advice to Clients where necessary
Experience and Expectations
The successful person will be experienced in providing Quantity Surveying services in a Client facing environment
Experienced in acting as the Quantity Surveyor through all RIBA stages of a project
Managing Client's expectations with regards to budget and cost control, together with assisting them to formulate strategies and contingency plans throughout the whole project lifecycle
Comfortable in a meeting environment and able to actively contribute where necessary
The ability to deliver a high standard of services
Have experience and/or keen to learn and assist with Business Development and developing business relationships with Clients and other Consultants
Ideally the candidate will have experience in Contract Administration and/or acting as the Employers Agent or have aspirations to gain experience in this field
Knowledge
Knowledge of producing feasibility studies, cost estimates and report writing
Comfortable working with both NRM2 and SMM7
Essential knowledge of measurement and the ability to ‘take off’ accurately from construction drawings either in hard copy or digital format
Knowledge and experience with JCT and NEC Forms of Contract
Knowledge of the Tendering process. The individual will be comfortable and capable of producing tender packages and undertaking tender reviews and interviews when required
Competent at undertaking valuations, conducting final account discussions and applying contractual knowledge where applicable
To be able to communicate across all levels, both internally through the business and externally with Clients, Consultants and Contractors
An understanding of the relevant procurement routes and processes pursued by Clients seeking to undertake a new construction project and the ability to offer advice to Clients on the most suitable options available
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying
Ideally a member of the RICS, or other professional body, or working towards this status
Skills/Competencies
Excellent communicator, verbally and in written form
Competent with all standard Microsoft Office software, Office 365 and SharePoint
Ability to use online facilities such as BCIS, NBS Chorus and contract software such as JCT online
Must hold a full UK driving licence
