The Department
The Technology department plays a crucial role in supporting the success of Janus Henderson. We are responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting state of-the-art software to support our fund management, trading, distribution, and operational areas and for maintaining a stable and resilient IT infrastructure platform. The Global Technology department has 400+ employees, running numerous change projects across all areas of the firm, including vendor implementations, regulatory change, in-house development, as well as overseeing change delivery from third party suppliers.
The Fixed Income Quant Platform Team sits within the Fixed Income Technology department and is responsible for providing low-friction technology services to the Quant community at Janus Henderson.
Quant Platforms Team responsibilities are dynamic, focused on building and maintaining deep working relationships with aligned business areas – team knowledge facilitates proactive activity, ensuring technology requirements are gathered, understood, developed, deployed, and supported, all in line with a predictable operating model.
Overview of the role
Within this role, your primary focus will be to partner with the quantitative investment teams on the review and enhancement of existing solutions, as well as on the build of new custom solutions. These solutions provide fund managers with innovative data driven research and enhanced decision-making capabilities. This is a senior technical hands-on role, and you will be expected to take ownership of key initiatives from design to delivery and to contribute to the architecture and development practices. This role is closely integrated with the investment team. It is therefore important that you can communicate and collaborate effectively across all areas of technology and business partners globally.

You will:
Able to build IT & data solutions for portfolio managers and quants balancing the need for fast delivery against the need for enterprise grade technology.
Design, implement and support data pipelines targeting Azure services to provide compute and data processing platforms.
Productionise and scale quantitative research models.
Participate in code design and code review.
Enhance python offering in Azure by developing bespoke frameworks to give the power of cloud on the desk
Design and support APIs.
Be the technology expert on the desk. Giving guidance where appropriate and ensuring best practices and understood and followed.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Expert knowledge in python including libraries/frameworks such as pandas, numpy, pyspark
Good understanding of OOP, software design patterns, and SOLID principles
Good experience in Docker
Good experience in Linux
Good experience in Airflow
Good knowledge of cloud architecture
Good experience in Terraform
Expert experience with database systems (snowflake, sql, postgres etc.)
Experience of micro-service development and API development
Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies
Demonstrable ability to design and deliver complex systems at scale
Knowledge of Angular, C# (preferential)
Mathematical finance or data science experience useful but not required.
Degree educated in mathematics or scientific/engineering discipline.
