Your new role As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be acting independently as an engineer and consultant responsible for managing design processes for smaller projects and elements of larger, more complex projects. You will be working closely with a Principal Engineer across multiple projects simultaneously whilst providing direction and oversight to Graduate and Project Level Engineers:Important tasks include:
Act in responsible charge while directly performing assigned tasks conforming with the Company's quality standards and the project budget and schedule.
Initiate and maintain communication with clients and contractors to coordinate technical project requirements.
Communicate the status of projects to the Department Manager.
Interface with clients to define the scope of work and job tasks.
Work directly with clients to identify and resolve problems within the area of technical expertise.
Propose new approaches to problems encountered and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or designs.
Perform as a team member or a project manager, consistent with the skills and experience required for the project.
What you'll need to succeed
BEng, MEng, or MSc in an appropriate/relevant discipline (or recognised appropriate equivalent) with at least five years' experience working as a Project Engineer/Consultant.
Experience of designing/assessing steel and concrete elements to internationally recognised codes and standards.
Experience with AutoCAD, STAAD, MathCAD and Finite Element Analysis (not essential, other software experience e.g. TEDDS is suitable)
The ability to communicate technical aspects of projects and work assignments to peers, subordinates, and clients orally and in writing.
The ability to direct the execution of moderately complex engineering tasks, as appropriate.
Knowledge of related technical disciplines.
Ability to identify and efficiently analyse solutions to problems.
What you'll get in return In return, you will receive a competitive annual salary ranging from £42,500 - £58,500 depending on your level of relevant UK experience. You will also gain hand-on technical experience across varied projects and have the opportunity to progress to Principal Level whilst receiving ICE/IStructE mentor guidance in terms of professional qualifications.You will also receive:
