As the Lead Animator you will be the point of contact in the studio for all things animation, you will be responsible for the animation team, creating a healthy environment where all are able to rise to their full potential.
You will manage a passionate team, sharing your knowledge and technical expertise in order to maintain a healthy environment inside the team and across the studio.
You will set a benchmark for animation in the studio and maintain the high standard through personal contribution and guidance across the department.
Key Duties Include
Grow, develop and support a world class animation department
Collaboration across the studio for all things relating to animation
Mentoring and providing feedback to the animation team
Set goals and manage the development of the animation team
Provide constructive feedback across the animation department and through personal one to one conversations
Creating and implementing animation assets for the game
Documenting and maintaining the animation pipeline
Seek out and present new solutions to animation problem areas
Working closely with the art leadership to maintain a high quality standard across animation and all related departments
Work with production to scope and implement animation work for the department
Requirements
5+ years of industry experience
An excellent portfolio/demo reel showing examples of character animation
Excellent working knowledge of Maya, MotionBuilder or any other industry standard animation package
Experience scoping and planning a successful animation pipeline
Proven experience mentoring and growing an animation department
Proven experience working with motion capture, keyframe animation and procedural animation techniques
Understanding of facial animation
Experience with state machines
A passion for video games and an understanding of current trends in relation to animation
Great communication skills projecting a positive and approachable attitude
Desirable
Previous experience leading an animation department
Experience with Unreal Engine
Experience with open world games
Passion for video game animation
