We are seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to join our team. Our school provides a therapeutic and child-centred education to students aged 6 to 17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), as well as other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with complex and challenging behaviours.

Day to day of the role:

Support teaching and learning activities tailored to individual student needs.

Work closely with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to facilitate learning and social development.

Manage classroom resources effectively to enhance the educational environment.

Accompany and supervise students on educational trips and visits.

Provide social support during lunchtimes for children who struggle with social interactions.

Utilise strong behaviour management skills to maintain a safe and supportive environment for students experiencing heightened behaviours.

Engage students in games and activities that promote social skills and reinforce learning.

Create inspiring classroom displays that support teaching and stimulate learning.

Celebrate student successes and contribute to a positive school culture.

Participate in therapeutic training sessions and reflect on practice to continuously improve.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

A good basic understanding of English and Maths.

Experience in managing challenging behaviours and excellent communication skills.

Resilience, persistence, and a solution-focused attitude.

Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and needs of the students.

A non-judgemental approach and the ability to wear many hats in supporting our diverse student population.

Willingness to participate in extensive therapeutic training and professional development.
