Electrical Asset Integrity Engineer

Opportunity to join an leading global offshore wind developer as part of the asset integrity team, bringing specialising in electrical engineering working across operational offshore wind assets in the portfolio.
As an Electrical Engineer, this role will be responsible for providing technical knowledge required to manage the integrity of operational assets within the area of expertise, where failure would have a major impact on safety, environmental, and commercial operation of the business.
The role will be responsible for providing Safety from the System as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) under Operational Safety Rules up to 66kV as a minimum. There will be additional involvement in all electrical aspects of Offshore Windfarm operations from turbine to grid connection.
This is a full time, staff role based in Edinburgh (hybrid).
Role:
Support the Asset Integrity Lead in defining and implementing an Asset Integrity Management Strategy.
Ensure proactive monitoring of asset performance across wind farm electrical balance of plant and transmission assets.
Liaise with and provide technical support to the site-based O&M team, including supporting warranty management.
Utilise data analysis tools to monitor and assess asset behaviour, performing detailed analysis of data from systems including cable temperature monitoring and HV electrical SCADA systems.
Develop and implement monitoring measures to ensure continued compliance of the asset with regulatory requirements such as those associated with the Grid Code.
Undertake root cause analysis of defects and propose remedial actions.
Review and approve any changes to scheduled maintenance plans.
Action and/or prepare processes and procedures to support O&M.
Provide technical support to commercial asset management activities where required, such as in respect to provision of ancillary services.
Working with procurement, engage specialist technical consultancy support where required, including preparing technical specifications and undertaking or coordinating technical assessment of proposals.
Act as a technical interface with the appointed OFTO where required.
Provide high quality reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required.
Ensure recommendations for improvement are fed into company knowledge management and lessons learned processes.
Requirements:
Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to 66kV as a minimum with Sanction for Test preferred, or demonstration of working towards qualification.
Experience working with High Voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance.
Knowledgeable of standards associated with electrical system design of grid connected power projects, including knowledge of key aspects of the UK regulatory regime such as the Grid Code and SQSS.
Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools and data manipulation programs (e.g. MATLAB, SCADA, MySQL, C++, Tableau, etc.).
Confident carrying out root cause analysis.
Full GWO offshore training is required for this position but can be provided if necessary.
Knowledge of wind farm and transmission asset design and construction processes, including associated standards and best practice and the UK offshore transmission regime.
Knowledge of wind farm performance management and optimisation, technical risk analysis and typical forms of construction contract / service contract and associated warranty provisions. The UK offshore transmission regime.
Knowledge of CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations, including a demonstrable understanding of health, safety and environmental best practice.
