Mechanical Design Engineer
Perm, £35k to £40k pa DOE, 36hrs per week, Mon to Thurs

Interaction Recruitment are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work for one of their busy Manufacturing and Engineering clients, based in Halifax.
Your role will involve handling all of the company’s design and development of new and existing products as well as 3rd party Design and Build projects. Day to day tasks will include:
-Working closely with the existing design team to fully understand the customers’ needs and performance requirements.
-Design with cost in mind, using cost effective decisions.
-Evaluate design, concept, technical and project risks.
-Hands on production and R&D machine build
-Working on existing designs, overcoming mechanical problems, providing evidence, 3D models and fully detailed drawings and Vault.
-Working on new projects from concept to production, ensuring designs are robustly engineered.
-Working hand in hand with a multi-disciplined team during development.
-Liaising with suppliers to ensure correct materials and parts are sourced.
-Taking designs and design ideas into production.
-Producing BOM configurations using Sage.
-Completing ECN work on existing designs.
-Identifying ISO standards which have a direct impact on the design.
To be successful, you must be educated to Degree/HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Other keys skills required:
-Minimum of 5 years Design Engineering experience
-3 years 3D CAD experience using Solidworks
-AutoCAD experience/knowledge would be beneficial
-Experience working with gears, drives and motors
-Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously
-Achieving the optimum overall cost within the budgetary constraints and project projections
-Knowledge of machining methods and sheet metal designs
-Must be a strong ‘ideas’ person
-Hands on, especially with the initial build
-Good communicator with strong verbal and written skills
You will be required to work 36hrs per week, from Mon to Thurs. The Salary for the role is between £35k to £40k pa Depending on Experience and the role is advertised as Permanent.
