Job Title - Senior HMI Engineer
Term - 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract
Job role overview:
You will be responsible for the development of HMI’s from early definition through to release for
production programmes. You will create engineering deliverables such as wireframes, proof of
concept prototypes, HMI logic layers, state diagrams. You will be expected to work closely with the
Model Based Systems Engineering Team and Product Planning team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
For assigned feature sets, own the HMI UX & UI attributes form start to finish following the HMI Design lifecycle process.
Manage detailed HMI model-based requirements, develop prototype and full production design implementations and ensure complete verification and validation. Some of this work could be with third party suppliers.
Support existing and new HMI designs for each assigned feature/function
Create visualizations of high-level ideas and explore suggestive directions of graphics
Define visual directions and develop further style guides
Conduct feature/function specific and benchmarking activities
Create HMI Specification documents for features/function and support development handover
Create and maintain Low/High fidelity wireframes and prototypes with regular reviews and input from wider business
Facilitate and conduct user testing and working closely with the integration and validation team to plan feature testing
Ensure HMI system design is software compatible
Working alongside the Model Based Systems Engineering to understand the feature functionality
Advanced knowledge of Adobe XD, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator or similar design tools for UX and UI design
To undertake and assist with duties as required by your Manager.
All Engineers will be expected to deliver a subset of the below:
Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
Define and improve cost, quality and feature performance targets.
Review designs to find new opportunities for cost and/or quality improvements.
Maintain HMI specs timing plan and support Engineering teams.
Manage and support supplier engagement.
Demonstrate proof of concept to Product Owners for approval.
To undertake and assist with projects as required by your Manager.
Any other ad-hoc duties as required by your Manager.
Professional Experience & Skills:
Strong understanding of full UX Design Process
HMI UX definition, concept creation and ideation
Design prototyping and related tools Validation of UX concepts, data driven design methodologies
Detailed specification creation and delivery for implementation
Supplier management experience and working with cross functional teams
Agile and waterfall methodologies
Creation and management of graphical assets
