Reports to: Account Director/Associate Director
Based at: Manchester, Media City
Salary: Up to £38K DOE
Job purpose: To manage B2B client accounts and support with securing new business
We are looking for a bright, driven and commercially aware B2B account manager to look after a portfolio of clients across Tech, sustainability and food & drink sectors. With a minimum of 18 months agency experience, you’re organised and on-the-ball, knowing your way around status reports, coverage reporting and social media scheduling. As a natural writer, you can turn your hand to any type of copy, from a blog on the latest food safety legislation to an Instagram caption about recycling.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop strong client relationships and take day-to-day ownership of account success
Create, manage and implement strategic and tactical activities on client accounts
Keep abreast of client issues in the media through monitoring publications, websites etc
Use the news agenda to create opportunities for commentary and media coverage
Create and maintain strong relationships with sector journalists and influencers
Produce high-quality and engaging written content, and distribute it via the appropriate channels
Brief and manage third party suppliers and partners
Update client and team on performance (such as financial budgets, time and plan) using appropriate tools such as status reports, weekly catch-ups and review meetings
Support junior staff members and share your skills and knowledge with the business
Monitor and progress your own development, setting goals and keeping an up-to-date Personal Development Plan
Maintain CPD accreditation with CIPR by completing moderation modules on time
New business
Support the new business programme by upselling to existing clients, identifying new business opportunities, and making contact with potential clients
Co-develop and deliver new business pitches/credential presentations
Contribute to idea generation for current and new client campaigns
Person Specification
Proven professional and relevant B2B communications consultancy experience ( 18 – 24 months at Senior Account Exec level or higher) this is an essential requirement
Experience working on traditional and digital media campaigns
Excellent organisational and time management skills
A natural ‘chameleon’ who can switch sectors, writing style and focus to meet individual client needs
Skilled communicator who can quickly build rapport and engender trust
Quick to adapt to new processes and procedures
A dedicated team player who can collaborate with colleagues across locations
Solid presentation skills
Confident in managing and supporting junior team members, delegating tasks where required
Comfortable with hybrid working (3 days office based, 2 days from home)
Willingness and ability to travel and work away from home as required
