Business Development Manager (SME) / SaaS / UK Remote

The Business Development Manager (SME) will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting potential SME clients to establish enduring partnerships. This role involves collaborating with the Sales Development Manager (SDM) and Account Managers to seamlessly transition prospects into loyal clients while exceeding sales targets and fostering internal teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead management & nurturing:
Review, categorise, and engage leads, tailoring outreach strategies and conducting qualification calls.
Sales excellence:
Monitor and exceed sales targets, collaborate with team members, articulate value propositions, and engage in tender processes.
Collaborative approach:
Work with SDMs and Account Managers for lead alignment and smooth client handover.
Strategic sales planning:
Manage sales pipeline, collaborate on analysis, and refine approaches based on market insights.
Market intelligence & client feedback:
Stay updated on SME market trends, gather feedback, and share insights for strategy improvement.
Reporting & performance analysis: Regularly review performance metrics and participate in team sessions for collective analysis.
Professional development & networking: Acquire technical expertise, seek training opportunities, attend industry events, and engage in performance enablement.
Information management:
Update sales administration accurately in CRM systems.
Relationships & Reporting:
Directly reports to the Sales Manager.
Internal collaboration: Collaborates with various departments across the organisation.
External relationships: Engages with prospects, clients, and partners as appropriate.
Essential Criteria:
Residency and right to work in UK or Ireland.
Minimum 3 years' experience in business development or SaaS sales within the SME segment.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets in software, preferably SaaS.
Experience with CRM software and proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Essential):
Degree in Business or related field.
Prior experience collaborating with wider sales teams.
Comprehensive knowledge of industry, competitors, and market trends.
Expert proficiency in sales/CRM systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Asana.
Strong network within SME sector or related industries.
Prior experience in a learning technology company.
