Role Purpose:
You will be responsible for leading small projects, developing engineering designs from concept through to manufacture and directing other team members as required. You will be working closely with a wide range of customers from SMB’s to major OEM’s to interpret their requirements and deliver engineered solutions within weight, cost, and timing targets.
As a Senior Design Engineer you will be:
Reporting into a wide range of projects through the Design Group, you will have a good understanding of engineering and be able to adapt to mechanical, composite, and electrical systems.
Working closely with the Lead Designer you will be responsible for leading engineering designs from concept through to manufacture working within customers cost and timing requirements.
Responsible for leading & guiding small projects and mentoring and guiding other team members.
Responsible for developing 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Attend and lead design reviews to present, discuss and critique ideas and to review and guide alternative solutions.
Working closely with procurement and production departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality is built into the design.
Generating and presenting project material to customers and key internal / external stakeholders.
Problem solving and fault rectification.
As a Senior Design Engineer you will have:
An engineering qualification (e.g. Degree) in mechanical, automotive, electrical or aerospace engineering and or be able to show capability by proven experience.
Experience of design in the specialist automotive or motorsport industry or be able to show that your experience is transferrable to and advanced engineering environment.
Experience of leading small projects or project teams.
High level of CAD literacy in Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Working knowledge of CATIA V5 beneficial.
Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to work with a level of independence, respond quickly to problems and to maintain departmental standards.
