JOB ADVERT

A permanent Project Manage r role, based in Portishead, North Somerset.

Your new company

Osprey is a great, British, logistics provider. Drawing on 25 years of in-house experience, our people find the right approach, the right combination of expertise and equipment and the safest, most efficient way to transport and install their assets and critical infrastructure. We’ve shaped our business with family values, and we concentrate on building long-term relationships. We’re independent. We may be the strongest UK company you’ve never heard of.

We transport and install the largest structures and critical assets needed to build and renew major infrastructure. Everything from a new 4,000te railway bridge, to the world’s largest offshore windfarm blade – at 107m long. With a maritime, vessel-owning heritage to be proud of, we own our own heavy cargo barges; we have one of the largest domestic SPMT fleets in the UK and some of the heaviest lift cranes. We’re committed to delivering on our promises, on time, on budget.

Your new role

The Project Manager will take full technical, operational, and commercial responsibility for planning and execution of projects under your control.

The Project Manager is accountable for:

Contract Management – ensure that Osprey delivers the project as per the terms and conditions agreed to in the contract and that all variations are captured and appropriately billed. Where possible, add milestone payments and favourable payment terms.

Project Delivery – ensure that all aspects of the ‘Project Process’ are followed so that each project is delivered on time, on budget and to a high safety standard. Ensure the highest standard of quality and deliverables during all phases from start-up to closure.

Project Cost Control – proactively manage the financials of each project to maximise profitability and give early warnings/use a proactive approach when any elements of the project appear to be off track.

Project Purchasing – proactively negotiate and smartly purchase from suppliers to minimise cost.

Project Engineering – ensure each project has all necessary engineering documentation produced to a high standard and peer reviewed before execution. Support junior engineers with your technical experience and knowledge to deliver exceptional heavy lift, transport and installation solutions for our clients.

Client Relationships – ensure proactive relationships are maintained and cultivated with clients.

Tendering – support with tendering activities, internally and externally in a timely and efficient manner.

What you’ll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have/be:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related subject.

Demonstratable experience in multimodal projects (land and marine) and able to manage critical interfaces between environments.

Demonstrable experience in the operational, commercial, and technical delivery of the heavy lift logistics and installations on multiple major projects across various market sectors (renewables, oil & gas, petrochemical, power, offshore modules etc.).

Understanding of core project management processes such as project preparation, quality, project structures, planning, risk management, contracts, costs and finance, project execution, leadership, teamwork, and communication.

Detailed understanding and knowledge of heavy lift transportation, lifting and installations.

Engineering ability and the ability to imagine and create new and innovative solutions.

Microsoft Office packages.

High level of self-motivation and management.

Proactive nature and highly organised and effective planner.

Good communicator – written and verbal.

Able to work effectively as part of a team.

Able and willing to learn new techniques and procedures.

Ability to solve ad-hoc problems quickly with clearly defined solutions.

Quality and detail orientated.

What you’ll get in return

A competitive salary, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. The role offers an opportunity to join an organisation committed to supporting its employees.
