As a primary school nurse, you'll play a pivotal role in promoting the health and welfare of students, ensuring they have access to the support they need to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. With your nurturing demeanour and professional expertise, you'll be instrumental in creating a safe and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
The Role
To ensure the good health and welfare of all pupils, staff and visitors of the school. Always ensure to conduct yourself in line with NMC guidelines as a registered nurse, also in line with NMC code of conduct. To ensure the relevant CPD is undertaken to and training is in line with your own Job Role requirements.
Key Responsibilities of the School Nurse
Daily organisation and administration of first aid in conjunction with the appropriate senior and teaching staff.
Responsible for all decisions relating to pupils being sent home during the hours of employment.
Liaise with parents when necessary to arrange for the collection of sick pupils.
To take pupils home/accompany them to hospital.
Administer pills, eye drops, ear drops, medicine and injections as directed by parents.
Responsibility of checking all medications, auditing, disposing and informing parent's of ensuring sufficient stock is available.
Liaise with the designated Local Authority school nurse and Heads of Year/Achievement Co-ordinators with regards to medical problems with pupils.
