Job Summary:
Ortenz & Co. Limited are looking for a Junior Accountant to join their accountancy team on a full time permanent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Completing the monthly management accounts and book keeping.
- Preparation of corporation tax returns and related computations.
- Preparation of self-assessment returns and non-resident company returns.
- Providing accounting support to clients.
- Preparation of VAT Returns for clients across diverse sectors including construction, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, IT and others.
- Assisting with managing client relationships with HM Revenue & Customs.
- Advising clients with regards to their statutory obligations.
- Direct responsibility for monitoring the efficient delivery of our services to each client in their portfolio and, indirectly, the responsibility for maximizing the profitability of the client as follows by monitoring own work to ensure timely and efficient completion.
- Preparing monthly tax returns of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) tax, for subcontractors and calculating CIS refund claims for clients ranging from sole traders to limited companies.
- Responsible for a portfolio of clients.
- Liaising directly with clients.
Qualifications:
To be successful for the Junior Accountant position, you must:
- Experienced qualified accountant (ACCA)
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, ideally within practice and dealing with owner managed businesses.
- Strong knowledge of VAT and have track record of preparing, submitting VAT returns and dealing with HMRC enquiries relating to VAT and other taxes.
- Takes ownership of assigned tasks and adopts a pro-active approach.
- Previous experience using (IRIS Accounting Suite and VT Software, Payroll Manager (MoneySoft) is compulsory.
- The candidate should have experience dealing with clients under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and possess a working knowledge of both CIS and VAT Domestic Reverse Charge.
- The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in VAT matters, with a proven track record of preparing and submitting VAT returns, as well as handling HMRC inquiries related to VAT and other taxes.
- Be keen to learn new skills.
