Senior Scientist – Safety Toxicology

SRG is pleased to be partnering with an organisation involved in the development of human biomimetic platforms. Your working environment will be decidedly research-driven and the key areas the business will touch on are testing and development of therapeutics for serious human diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive and lead the assay development of novel Organ-on-a-Chip models from idea to publication, with a focus on applications for safety testing to be used in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry.

Conduct experiments using cell biology and bioengineering tools.

Provide fully costed and planned projects and active use of project management tools to track budgets and schedules.

Rigorously analyse and interpret experiments and present data in numerous formats.

Ensure all experiments are correctly recorded and data integrity is maintained to a high standard.

Communicate progress, successes and challenges with the R&D team, commercial team and wider company when required.

Be responsible for all aspects of running experiments including upkeep of the lab, maintaining stocks, record keeping, updating protocols and maintaining good health and safety practices.

Desired Experience:

PhD (or Equivalent) in biology, bioengineering or related subject with experience working in a regulated environment

Experience in 3D biology models is essential

Experience in inflammation-related research or drug development (including immunology, cancer, inflammatory diseases)

Experience working within safety and toxicology pipelines.

Expertise in liver or lung biology.

Specific expertise in primary human cell culture, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. Expertise in a broad array of relevant lab techniques (molecular biology, immunoassays, cell-based assays).
