Description

Opportunities have arisen for experienced IVVQ Engineers to deliver the role of IVVQ Manager in Thales OME.

The successful candidates will be a talented Systems Engineers with experience in IVVQ definition in the bid and concept stages, Integration and verification of the system, coupled with a proven capability of delivering mission systems.

The roles can be based in Reading or Glasgow. Depending on the specific projects the roles may require periods of time to be spent at other Thales sites, Customer sites or integration and test facilities.

The candidates will have demonstrable experience interfacing with internal and external customers, understanding system requirements, working with other design engineers to specify and accept sub system designs as well as creating verification and validation programs in the defence domain.

The role holder reports to the Systems Engineering Discipline Manager.

The key individual responsibilities are:

To create the technical specifications with acceptance criteria for subsystems,

To decompose requirements, ensuring that they have been partitioned and detailed to a level appropriate for the design to commence.

To ensure, with the support of Specialty Engineering experts & Safety/HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) stakeholders

That candidate solutions meet regulatory requirements including all applicable standards and legislation. This includes product safety & security and Environmental/HSE requirements and standards

That solution designs take into account the contractual requirements

That all related certification activities are performed correctly

Development of design elements to meet the required performance within the overall system

Manage and be responsible for allocated work packages.

Leading the engineering IVVQ team and be the lead interface for IVVQ activities with sub-contractors and test houses

To define the integration, verification, validation, qualification, certification and acceptance methods and tools

Be responsible for collated results and evidence

Essential Skills:

Proficient in the use of Requirement Management tools (e.g. DOORS)

Experience in IVVQ definition in the System design and development stage of complex hardware and software systems

Experience of creating and leading verification and validation programs:

establishing the lifecycle, processes and methods

Defining the IVVQ strategy

Define IVVQ strategy, establishes requirements related to IVVQ activities and perform associated estimates and schedule

Coordinate IVVQ activities including trials

Establishes priorities within the IVVQ activities and report on risks

Perform or organise testing on the manufacturer’s site or at the customer’s premises or at an Environmental Test Facility.

Analyse results and produce technical reports

Have good written, oral and presentation skills to allow effective communication with peers, and both technical and non-technical customers.

Proven track record of working and delivering on solutions for a defence programme

Ability to work collaboratively across multiple product development and specialist domain teams.

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of IEC61508 or equivalent safety standard.

Knowledge of ISO140001, Def.Stan00-051 or equivalent environmental standard.

Ability to use tools such as Matlab, Simulink & MathCad

Understanding of MBSE and implementation and toolsets such as Capella, Rhapsody or Enterprise Architect.

Ability to use, for the purpose of collaborative work with hardware engineers, CAD packages such as Creo, Catia or Solid works

Possesses knowledge of the fundamentals of Model Based Systems Engineering and SysML. Experienced in the use of Rhapsody, Capela or Enterprise Architect
