About the role
A Shop Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Shop Manager in the day-to-day operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and overseeing the shop's overall success. This position requires a blend of leadership, customer service, and administrative skills.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the company's key performance indicators by delivering an exceptional in-store experience. In order to do this, the candidate will build and train an effective team, and effectively incorporate business trends and customer feedback into the training of employees.
Driving shop sales :
Deliver sampling, work with the kitchen to utilise waste, promotions, point of sale, displays and all other sales driving initiatives
Report any maintenance issues and coordinate engineer visits when required
Guest experience and customer service:
To champion swift, efficient, knowledgeable and engaging service
To be solution driven for both team members and customers
Improve on the reactiveness of service and reduce customer wait times to a minimum
People:
To set up a style of leadership in synergy with the shop manager, ensuring team requests are overseen and appraisals are completed in a timely matter.

Develop, train and coach your team through performance reviews and personalized learning and development

Championing on staff retention levels
Set up your teams schedule and ensure a balance between adequate cover and the teams requests. Offer suggestions to the shop manager, to optimize the schedule.
Support the manager in the recruitment process by putting up adverts, managing CVs and participating in interviews and trial shifts
Training:
To share knowledge of our Melrose and Morgan products
Ensure a smooth and structured on-boarding for your new hires, supporting your operations team to deliver a consistent induction
Ensure staff complete all mandatory training, including the induction, online courses and ongoing product training
Effectively communicate to the team new product launches and procedures so the team are well informed about the stories behind new brands and given selling tools for new products
Operations:
Visual merchandising : Ensuring company standards of display are reached in all areas of the shop throughout the day by managing the team to ensure standards are embedded properly
Creating and maintaining interesting and enticing displays whilst maintaining the company brand values
Contribute to identifying relevant and seasonal products to promote within the shop
Shop Cleanliness : To ensure the shop is well maintained and meets the cleanliness standards at the front of house
Back of office : Ensure the back of office is organized to an excellent standard
Health & Safety : To maintain a safe and beautifully presented workplace, ensuring we are fully compliant with health and safety records
Showing strong awareness and understanding of the importance of Food Safety
Accurate and consistent recording of all HACCP documentation
Audits : To ensure your store scores a 5* rating in the EHO audit
Online orders : Manage the successful packing and delivery of online orders as required
Maintenance : Report any maintenance issues and coordinate engineer visits when required
Reporting & Wastage:
To drive labour efficiency and ensure rotas are used effectively to delivery target wage costs
Review weekly sales to identify progress and issues and take action to further improve sales as a result, as part of the weekly report send to management
Ensure that wastage is reported accurately across the team
Deliver accurate stock takes as required
Ordering and shop replenishment :
To manage the store ordering effectively to ensure minimum waste with full availability
Management of incoming deliveries, delivery notes and invoices
Requirements
Minimum high school education or equivalent
2+ years' of retail or equivalent management experience
Strong verbal or written communication skills
Level 2 Food Health and Safety trained at a minimum
Passion for food
Previous experience in similar role
Good leadership skills
