We are seeking a Finance Assistant with a solid accounting background to join our team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in all aspects of accounting and capable of competently executing a variety of tasks with precision and efficiency.
Day to day of the role: Prepare VAT returns and submit them to HMRC.
Handle the preparation of the CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) for HMRC.
Process sales and purchase invoices thoroughly.
Actively chase overdue invoices and manage inter-company invoicing.
Issue service charge invoices, provide receipts to customers, and follow up on payments as needed.
Perform bank reconciliations on Xero against invoices and statements.
Maintain and ensure the accuracy of budget records.
Manage project expenditure versus budgets and report findings to management.
Reconcile petty cash and card payments daily.
Oversee company debit card expenses and maintain supplier accounts with agreed terms, including monthly reconciliations.
Raise and issue purchase orders and assist in the cost-effective procurement of goods.
Utilize Xero and EQUE2 Construction Management for accounting and budgeting tasks.
This job description is not exhaustive, and additional tasks may be required as necessary for the company.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in Google Suite/Microsoft Office and Xero is preferable.
Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and effectively prioritize workload.
Team player with the ability to also work independently using own initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience: Accounting: 2 years (required)
Bookkeeping: 2 years (required)
