Electrical and Automation Engineer

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client operates globally, working from raw materials to finished product within metals production. They are now looking to recruit an Electrical and Automation Engineer to report into the Engineering Service Manager and play a vital role in delivering complex product solutions throughout the full product lifecycle. You will be responsible for the electrical / automation engineering of a specific portion of a product or project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specifying the electrical, instrumentation and control requirements for mechanical / fluids equipment on projects
Produce technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, calculations, manuals etc. for a specific area/equipment and meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations.
Ensure that the design and documentation of electrical equipment is produced to the required standards, within budget and agreed time scales.
Provide technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, tested, installed and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements, either from the office or at site
Develop, maintain and cultivate relationships with Clients, Suppliers, Sub Contractors to ensure successful execution of the project, future business.
Site support and commissioning of some products and equipment on clients sites.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Ideally candidates will hold a relevant degree and Chartered Engineering Status. However, this is not an essential requirement.
Experience of project engineering and the project lifecycle from sales through to installation & commissioning from a specific electrical / automation engineering view.
Strong ability within machine design and instrumentation
Sizing and application of motors to optimise machine design
Knowledge of safety systems for industrial control
Proficient user of Eplan
Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements
An understanding of Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Sales and R&D disciplines is desirable.
· Must have current UK Driving License, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions, if required, occasionally at short notice.
