We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a leading construction company. This role is a full-time opportunity based in our new, modern office and is pivotal in supporting our finance department. The ideal candidate will have experience in a senior finance role within an SME, or be looking to step up from a Management Accounts role in a larger company, or transitioning away from practice.
Day to day of the role: Oversee all financial control of the business, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Manage month-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, work in progress (WIP), group company management charges, and P&L month-end reports.
Manage cash flow and working capital to optimise financial resources.
Prepare statutory returns and ensure directors receive accurate and timely management information.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Manage and mentor two finance team members.
Handle payroll, debt collection, and supplier payments.
Provide necessary documentation and support to external auditors.
Offer day-to-day IT support and liaise with external IT support companies.
Collaborate with directors and senior management to establish and improve effective processes and controls.
Required Skills & Qualifications: ACCA or CIMA part or fully qualified, or Qualified By Experience (QBE).
Proficient in Excel and familiar with RedSky software.
Knowledge of HMRC tools for CIS and FPS submissions.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and liaise with various levels of the business.
Experience in the construction industry is advantageous but not essential.
