Our client is a well-regarded privately owned multidiscipline business operating within the Commercial Construction Sector with its Head Office Ideally situated making easily accessible to Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire using M1, M40 and A5. As a result of the companies continued development FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Qualified Accountant to join the business as Financial Controller / Head of Finance. Working closely with the Finance Director this position will operate as the No 2 in Finance. Main purpose and scope of the job: Review of financial and control functions, including reporting, monthly and annual accounts, treasury, and company secretarial matters Commercial Developments group of companies and companies owned by the business owners, whose activities include farming, estate management and investments. Duties and key responsibilities: • Sales and Debtors - ensuring accuracy, timeliness and completeness of sales invoicing, and tight credit control • WIP- review of balances and working with the Commercial team to ensure balances are valid • Purchases and Creditors - ensuring only valid purchase/sub-contract invoices are processed and paid in accordance with appropriate credit terms. Preparation of weekly payment runs and ad-hoc payments. • Treasury - preparation of short, medium and long term cash projections to support the management of the business within funding facilities. Bank covenant reporting. Setting up new bank accounts as necessary. • Payroll - managing payroll preparation • Intercompany loans management - ensuring appropriate documentation is in place and balances reconcile • Assisting with quarterly and adhoc reports (including external funders/JV partners/banks) • Preparation of monthly management accounts and group consolidation • Oversee the year end audit with the external auditors including the annual statutory accounts preparation and tax calculations • Responsibility for the day to day accounting entries and reporting for Ad Hoc Group Businesses • Taxes - responsibility for Corporation Tax, VAT, CIS, Option to Tax and PAYE / NIC matters, including liaison with advisers and government bodies • Internal Control - managing and improving all internal control procedures to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all procedures impacting on reporting and accounts preparation • Company secretarial - responsible for ensuring all company secretarial matters are completed and complied with in a timely manner • Insurances - maintenance and regular update of all insurance policies, including liaison with brokers • Assisting with the implementation of the company pension schemes • Use of systems such as Sage 50 / COINS / Xero and help review and develop KPI’s / MI The ideal candidate must be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and be looking for a varied, challenging and progressive opportunity that offers scope to work across financial / management / commercial accounting within a dynamic business Previous experience gained working within Construction or Project related industries is desirable to include knowledge of CIS however this is note essential. Those working within practice but seeking a move into Industry will also be considered for this opportunity.
