Assistant Accountant - Maternity cover

Experienced Assistant Accountant required for a growing retail/insurance business based in Bradford. Established over 150 years they aim to provide their customers with the best market-leading services. This position is to cover maternity leave, requiring an immediate start.

The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Finance. Duties will include:
Maintaining the Purchase Ledger.
Updating and maintaining the cashbook.
Bank reconciliations.
Stock accounting.
Intercompany transactions.
Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Profit and loss variance reporting.
Accruals and prepayments.
Preparation and posting of monthly journals.
Monthly VAT return.
Updating and maintaining the fixed asset register.
Other ad hoc duties as required.
This search is not limited to any industry. Previous experience is essential:
A solid understanding of debits and credits is essential.
You must be IT literate with working knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookups, XLookups, Forumula's etc).
Sage Line 200 experience is desirable.
The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.
Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
