Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school setting. As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging and accessible lessons that cater to the diverse needs of our students. You will work collaboratively with other staff members to develop Education Health Care Plans EHCPs) and provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure the academic success and personal development of all students.
Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons that are tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs.
Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and challenges.
Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education and teaching English to students with diverse needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
Proven experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school setting.
Strong understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support students with SEN.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Patience, empathy, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and personal development of students with special educational needs.
Each candidate will be subject to a DBS and police check where required. A successful candidate will also provide at least two references from their previous employer/s.
