Job Purpose:

This person will be reporting to the Head of Underwriting and working with a small team of highly experienced underwriters. They will play a key role in the delivery of the business strategy and strategic aims.
Principal Accountabilities:
Supporting new business relationships by providing financial advisers with pre-sales underwriting guidance
Initial application underwriting
Requesting underwriting requirements
Working with the Head of Underwriting and colleagues, provide input into the business' underwriting processes and practices to ensure they are viewed by advisers and members as 'best in market'
Managing external underwriting enquiries via all communication channels
Making Underwriting decisions based on customer disclosures
Working towards underwriting third party medical evidence in line with training plan
Maintaining an awareness of the importance of risk management, bringing any matters of concern to the attention of the Head of Underwriting
You should apply if you have:
Previous experience working in either a financial services role or able to demonstrate previous medical experience.
Previous experience as an Initial / Junior / Triage Underwriter
Previous Income Protection experience
Great customer service skills
A strong team player attitude
The ability to communicate routine and sometimes complex and sensitive information internally and externally
