Salary: £40k to £70k
Location: South Europe
The High Voltage Safety Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols and procedures for high voltage systems across my clients EV platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with expertise in high voltage systems, electrical safety standards, and risk assessment methodologies. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest level of safety and reliability for all EV products.
Role: Senior Compliance Engineer (HV Functional Safety)
Salary: £60k to £85k
Location: Norfolk
Hybrid WFH: 2 Days Per Week from home (Varied)
The Senior Functional Safety Engineer is an integral member of the Test and Simulation Team, responsible for ensuring the design of systems adhere to Functional Safety standards and requirements such as ISO 26262 for automotive or IEC 61508 for industrial applications. Functional Safety will involve verification and validation of the design and architecture of safety-critical systems that incorporate multiple safety components while maintaining the highest level of safety and reliability. The Senior Functional Safety Engineer is also responsible for test planning, test design, test execution, test results and test reports that are drawn from the verification, validation and testing activities. The Senior Functional Safety Engineer will support the Engineering Manager Certification, Test and Simulation and VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures for high voltage systems, in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards and mitigate risks associated with high voltage systems.
Design and validate safety features and interlocks to prevent electrical hazards and ensure safe operation of high voltage systems.
Collaborate with design engineers to integrate safety requirements into the development of high voltage components and systems.
Perform safety testing and validation of high voltage systems, including insulation testing, ground fault detection, and fault tolerance analysis.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on high voltage safety standards and best practices to cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on high voltage systems and electrical safety.
Proficiency in electrical safety standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC 61851, ISO 26262, etc.).
Strong understanding of high voltage components, such as batteries, inverters, and charging systems.
Experience with safety analysis tools and methodologies, such as FMEA, FTA, and PHA.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
