Based in Dundee, ESS’s client was founded in 2019 with a mission to make a positive impact on the renewable energy sector. The company is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions and is playing a crucial role in introducing battery storage systems to the UK market. They offer a range of customisable battery storage solutions that help their customers optimise their energy use, reduce their carbon footprint, generate new revenue streams, and operate more efficiently.
To further expand their operations, the company has recently opened a new facility in Dundee. As part of their growth strategy, they are now looking to hire a highly skilled Mechanical/Electrical Assembly Technician.
The Assembly Technician will be responsible for mechanical assembly and electrical wiring on their range of products. Ensuring that all electrical and mechanical systems are operating efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Role Responsibilities
Preparation of materials for assembly
Building electrical/mechanical assemblies through the application of reading technical drawings and specifications.
Testing of battery storage products and systems.
Installation and service on client sites for battery systems and control hardware
Ongoing maintenance and repair of existing assets including completion of all associated paperwork
Co-ordinate with other disciplines to ensure activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner
Actively participate in joint fault diagnostic and root cause analysis
Provide progress updates on job status
Carry out offsite work as required
Deliver quality within own area of responsibility
Have an understanding of ISO9001
Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner in line with risk assessments and health and safety standards
Experience and Qualifications
SQA, City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Practical experience in mechanical assembly and electrical wiring.
Ability to interpret technical drawings
Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Organisation skills with ability to prioritise
Good at analysing situations and informing decision-makers of any potential barriers to effective project execution
Effective team player and good communicator
Experience working with battery storage systems would be advantageous
