The Role:
As a Catering Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in the daily operations of the school restaurant, working under the direction of the Unit Catering Supervisor. Your contributions will ensure efficient service, customer satisfaction, and sales promotion within the dining facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Basic food and beverage preparation, including vegetable and snack prep
Simple cooking using prepared ingredients
Organising and managing food service points
Transferring and serving meals and snacks
Assisting with meal promotion to students, staff, and visitors
Preparing the dining area and maintaining cleanliness
Recording temperatures for safety compliance
Other delegated duties as needed

Working Hours:
16 hours per week during the school year (September to June)
Daily from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm plus
One additional hour per week to be agreed in advance with the Catering Manager during the school year from September to June
The Ideal Candidate:
Our client is seeking an energetic and adaptable team player who meets the following criteria:
Ability to perform duties such as lifting, cleaning, and food preparation
Ability to work independently and under supervision
Thrives in a dynamic, busy environment
Excellent communication skills
Enthusiastic and approachable demeanour
Preference given to those with Basic Food Hygiene qualification or catering experience
Please Note: This role is physically demanding, you will need to be comfortable carrying out all duties associated with the post including lifting and moving pots; loading and unloading dishwasher; sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning of equipment and server.

About the school:
A large co-educational and interdenominational voluntary grammar school situated on 25 acres of grounds on the edge of Holywood, overlooking Belfast Lough. There are at present 1,250 pupils in the school, some 180 of them in the Preparatory Department. It is owned and managed in all its affairs by the Board of Governors of the School, which is drawn from the local community and reflects the main religious denominations of Holywood. The school is funded directly by the Department of Education for Northern Ireland.
