Strathclyde ISC is hiring a full-time Computer Science tutor to join their STEM team, with preference for candidates skilled in Maths and Statistics. Responsibilities include delivering teaching programs, supporting students, and innovating teaching practices. The role involves designing and delivering Computer Science modules, with a focus on specific topics, and may also include teaching other programs and supervising projects.

As a tutor, you will contribute to the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials, and delivery across a range of Computer Science modules ( SCQF levels 7 and 8). In particular you will be responsible for the IY2 modules covering Advanced Programming, Logic and Algorithms, Functional Thinking, Computer system and Architecture, Quantitative Methods and Data Modelling. You may also be required to deliver modules on different programmes including Computing for the Undergraduate Foundation in Engineering and Science, or project supervision on our Pre-master’s programmes (SCQF 9/10). ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Head of STEM you will be responsible for the design, delivery, and development of modules in Computer Science.

Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by University of Strathclyde International Study Centre.

Prepare and deliver teaching lectures, seminars, and tutorial sessions, with up to 25 hours per week.teaching

Write and prepare unit examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.

Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.

Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Work with the Centre’s Student Experience team in the delivery of induction, orientation, and registration programmes.

Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate on-going welfare and progression support.

Track students’ academic journey and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support on-going learning.

Follow centre protocol and liaise with colleagues and line manager according to procedure in particular regarding compliance processes such as class timetabling, attendance and engagement monitoring

ABOUT YOU We are looking for a dynamic, engaging, and creative tutor who is keen to develop their teaching skills and subject knowledge. You must be prepared to collaborate with others and have a desire to contribute positively to the Centre.You will have experience of or a commitment to working with international students and have:

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Information Security Plus a minimum of a Master’s degree in a related subject area OR considerable relevant industry experience. (current Master’s students with appropriate experience will also be considered)

Relevant Teaching Qualification(or be in the process of achieving this) or significant experience working with students.

Experience of teaching computer science and engineering modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, including lab-based teaching, or relevant industry experience that translates well to the classroom.

Experience with Object-Oriented programming (Java, Python)

Experience in Web designing (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
