However, some pupils may require additional support to engage in their education which is built around their needs, skills, and interests. That’s where you come in. As a teacher, you’ll work with neurodiverse children and young people (Aged between 11 - 14) who may have additional needs relating to communication and interaction, cognition and learning, sensory and/or physical needs.You will teach Science within our secondary provision, delivering sessions to small groups or supporting individual pupils. As we’re a small school, you may need to teach other subjects as part of your role.Our curriculum is tailored to each pupil, rather than taking a conventional mainstream approach and as such learning is based on individual needs, goals, strengths, and aspirations. Whilst some of our pupils will progress to formal qualifications, we also measure success in other ways by taking a holistic approach to education - supporting children with their social, emotional and mental health development, and providing opportunities to gain transferable life skills that are essential for their transition into adulthood.Typically, classes are made up of five pupils which will provide you with the opportunity to develop positive relationships with the pupils you support and to connect with them.A day in the life of a Science Teacher will involve:Leading classroom activities including planning, teaching and assessing learning, particularly with ‘your’ class.
