I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Depot Manager to join a large business who specialise within the distribution of building and plumbing supplies.
They are seeking an experienced Depot Manager who will be responsible for overseeing warehouse and transport operations across a busy distribution centre, which operates a high-frequency dispatch service across the South East.

The Candidate;
Proven experience as a Warehouse Depot Manager, ideally in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
Logistics Industry experience within building supplies, plumbing distribution or similar industry is highly desirable
Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, health and safety policies and procedures.
Experience in inventory control and management.
Experience in inbound and outbound logistics.
Strong IT skills, particularly with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using Warehouse Management Systems
Flexibility within the role and able to cover a variety of areas within the Warehouse
Ability to efficiently lead a team, delegate, supervise functions and keep staff motivated
Duties and Responsibilities;
Manage the warehouse and driving team to ensure all operational objectives are met.
Understanding and embodying the company's policies and vision, ensuring alignment with warehouse operations.
Holding comprehensive oversight of all personnel within the depot, including Goods In (day shift), late shift, and delivery drivers.
Directly reporting to the Operations Manager regarding all depot operations and maintaining accountability.
Facilitating communication between head office, customers, suppliers, and transport firms.
Efficiently coordinating and monitoring the reception, storage, and dispatch of goods.
Utilizing space and mechanical handling equipment effectively while ensuring adherence to quality and environmental standards.
Coordinating the implementation of automated and computerized systems when necessary.
Responsively managing internal and external communications via email and telephone.
Ensuring the accuracy of stock control systems and maintaining precise inventories.
Strategically planning future capacity requirements.
Overseeing the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of staff, while monitoring progress against individual and team objectives.
Prioritizing continuous improvement initiatives and regularly generating and maintaining KPIs, reports, and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Providing regular updates on company progress to warehouse staff.
Upholding standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security within the work environment, fostering a culture of safety and promoting colleague well-being.
Supervising the scheduled maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment, ensuring compliance with FORS requirements.
Maintaining the vehicle defects log and addressing all issues promptly.
Cultivating strong relationships with team leads (Goods In, Late shift, & drivers) to foster open communication and support staff in achieving individual and team objectives.
