We’re seeking Engineers with the experience of working with automated material handling systems to join our dedicated Automation team.

An excellent opportunity to join our impressive state of the art 2.5m square foot Distribution Centre in Shirebrook, that's over 30 Football pitches, and is one of the most advanced warehouses within the UK during a period of exciting elevation.

Job Description

You will provide site-based engineering support to minimise downtime and ensure uptime, and availability of the installed automated equipment on site. Through a professional engineering approach and a commitment to service quality, you’ll support the shift Team by utilising a broad range of skills taking a proactive approach to improving performance and reliability.

You will directly report to the Shift Automation Manager, while being also mentored by the Senior Engineer. You will be working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (rotation of days/nights)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance and repair of all onsite automated equipment.

Carry out planned repairs and reactive repairs of automated material handling equipment including, tote conveyors, spiral conveyors, sorters, shuttles and robotics.

Fault-finding and diagnosis of mechanical and/or electrical faults.

Respond to automation faults and breakdowns in a timely manner ensuring minimal downtime.

Prioritise system faults and optimise uptime and availability of onsite automated equipment.

Complete all reports in line with requirements using CMMS and Microsoft software packages.

Comply with health and safety legislation as priority focus

Participate in the delivery, installation, commissioning and testing of upgrades and enhancements.

Ensure optimum levels of onsite spare parts are maintained.

Support site meetings as required.

Mentor, train and advise junior members of the team.

Qualifications

Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ONC or equivalent qualification in engineering discipline [multiskilled preferable]

Experience of working with automated material handling systems

Ability to work at height.

Capable of understanding Mechanical, Electrical and/or Electronic technical manuals and drawings

Proven competence in H&S

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Basic understanding of control systems and techniques

Ability to work in a time critical environment

Effective time and workload management skills

PC literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
