Job Title: Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (1:1 SEN Support)

Location: South Liverpool

About Us: This school is a caring and inclusive primary school located in South Liverpool. We are dedicated to providing a supportive learning environment where every child can achieve their full potential. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Job Description: As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) working on a 1:1 basis with an SEN pupil, you will have a unique opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of a child. You will provide tailored support and encouragement to help the pupil overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and reach their academic and personal goals.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the SENCo and class teacher to understand the individual needs and requirements of the pupil you will be supporting.

Provide 1:1 support to the pupil with SEN, implementing personalised learning strategies and interventions to facilitate their progress and engagement in learning.

Adapt and differentiate learning materials and activities to meet the specific learning styles and abilities of the pupil.

Foster a positive and supportive relationship with the pupil, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.

Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, monitoring progress and providing feedback to the SENCo and class teacher.

Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists) to ensure a coordinated approach to support and inclusion.

Maintain accurate records of the pupil's progress, achievements, and any concerns, in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEN setting.

Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and experience supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, and specific learning difficulties.

Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with children with SEN, with the ability to build positive relationships and establish trust.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and external professionals.

Ability to use initiative and work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEN would be advantageous but not essential.

Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
