Planning & Environment Lawyers

City of Bristol, England, United Kingdom

Cathedral Appointments is delighted to continue its partnership with an ambitious and collaborative national law firm whose multi-disciplinary Planning and Environment team operates across all development sectors. The team is recognised for its depth of knowledge, breadth of experience and for providing clear, pragmatic and commercial advice and support in navigating the planning process – from the inception of a proposal through to delivery – in order to secure the best possible outcome for every client.

The firm is committed to supporting the ongoing success and growth of the team, with a focus on their Bristol office (with hybrid working). As such, there are a number of opportunities currently, including:

Planning & Consulting Director/Partner

Planning & Environmental Managing Associate (6 + PQE, Environmental Law experience necessary)

Planning Consultant (4 + years experience)

Planning Senior Associate (4 + years experience)

In common across these roles is the requirement for you to be an experienced Planning Lawyer with an enthusiastic, collaborative and proactive approach to joining a friendly, supportive and ambitious team. You will provide planning advice to clients from a variety of sectors as well as helping landowners and developers across the UK.

About You

Most importantly we are looking for enthusiastic Planning & Environment lawyers to want to be part of something progressive and exciting. In technical terms, and appropriate for the level and role you wish to be considered for, you’ll have gained experience of Section 106 agreements, highways and other statutory agreements, advising on planning, highways and associated law, due diligence for property and corporate transactions and contentious planning work, such as Planning Inquiries/hearings and Court challenges/Judicial Reviews. Any experience you have gained on large regeneration schemes would be particularly desirable. The Director/Partner opportunity will require you to be able to demonstrate a regional or national profile within Planning, with strong networks and an active business development focus.

You are confident in the technical advice you provide to colleagues and directly to clients, being able to consider and provide insightful and appropriate advice across a range of sectors. You appreciate what excellent client service looks like, and are accustomed to supporting less experienced members of the team to their technical, networking and interpersonal/team development skills. Being resilience to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively, you will be able to meet deadlines as needed. You will possess strong communication and rapport building skills and you are tenacious, thorough, and attentive to detail whilst appreciating the 'bigger picture' for your clients, taking pride in the high standards of your work.

Having a natural ability and experience in business development activities, you will help to extend the firms, and your own personal profile with a team of experts supporting you.

Benefits include:

Agile and Flexible Working, with an allowance for equipping your home office if needed
