Rotherham is a town in South Yorkshire with a population of over 117,000 people. Rotherham resides just on the doorstep of Sheffield; the city centre is just 6 miles away from the town, making it an easily commutable destination from Rotherham.

Traditionally, industry within Rotherham was centred on iron and coal, which was important during the Industrial Revolution. Today however, engineering and manufacturing play an integral role in Rotherham's economy, providing a wealth of jobs in the town.

Rotherham's steel manufacture has led to its importance in supplying steel to the automobile industry, which includes Renault Formula One cars. Steel is also largely supplied to the agricultural and aerospace industries from Rotherham.

The town centre of Rotherham has been at the centre of significant regeneration projects. New residential areas were built, along with shops, cafes and a new theatre. A waterfront leisure complex was also created as part of Rotherham's regeneration projects.

The town of Rotherham attracts visitors from the surrounding areas. Popular destinations for visitors of Rotherham include the interactive science and adventure centre, the Magna Science Adventure Centre, which was built at a former steel works. Clifton Park Museum is another popular attraction, and the theatre and city centre bars, clubs and restaurants form Rotherham's nightlife. The retail industry in Rotherham is relatively small, however Sheffield's large shopping complex Meadowhall is located a convenient distance from the town.
