Hereford is the largest city in the county of Herefordshire. It has a population of over 55,000 people. The city of Hereford lies on the River Wye just 16 miles east of the Welsh border. Hereford is 24 miles from Worcester and 23 miles from Gloucester.

Herefordshire is an area renowned for its production of ciders due to the volume of orchards in the surrounding areas. Hereford is home to commercial cider producer Bulmer's; the company produces cider under the Bulmer's, Woodpecker and Strongbow brands. Weston's cider is produced on the outskirts of Hereford and the city is also home to a variety of brewers including the Spinning Dog Brewery and the Wye Valley Brewery.

As well as Hereford's vast brewing heritage there are also many employment opportunities within the public service sector. Hereford is home to The Herefordshire Council and NHS Herefordshire; both of which are key employers in the city. The manufacturing industry is also well represented within Hereford, and there are many opportunities in food and steel manufacturing companies, amongst others.

Hereford has many leisure facilities which include a cinema, bowling alley, shops, restaurants, and much more. Hereford Leisure Centre has sports halls, a gym and squash courts, while Hereford Leisure Pool has a number of swimming pools including a diving pool.

Hereford is home to many museums including the Hereford Cider Museum, where visitors can learn the history behind cider making. Other museums in the city include the Hereford Museum and Art Gallery and The Old House museum, which portrays life in the Jacobean period. The museums are very popular visitor attractions within the area.
