Bedford is the county town of Bedfordshire, situated in the East of England. The town of Bedford has a population of over 80,000 people. Bedford is the largest settlement in the borough of Bedford and the town lies between Northampton to the North West and Cambridge to the east.

Bedford castle mound is located near the centre of town and it marks the remains of Bedford's Medieval Castle. Another landmark within the town of Bedford is the Embankment, which is where the Great Ouse River passes through Bedford. The river's route is lined with gardens and in the gardens is a war memorial designed by sculptor Charles Sergeant Jagger.

The town provides a wealth of job opportunities for those wishing to work in Bedford. Bedford Borough Council is a key employer in the town and popular industries include retail, administration, services and the public sector, amongst many others.

Bedford has its own festival which is held every two years called the River Festival. It attracts over 250,000 people and is a mixture of live music and sporting events along with a funfair and much more.

The University of Bedfordshire theatre is the largest theatre in Bedford, and the Bedford Corn Exchange is an extremely popular music venue in the town. Bedford museum and art gallery is within a recreated Victorian house and houses collections of local history, notable watercolour collections and much more.
