Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 500 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.Your New Role:As the EHS&S Manager, you will be responsible for leading, championing, delivering, and monitoring safety, environmental and sustainability activities across the Pencoed site to ensure compliance with current and future EHS&S legislative requirements and good practice. You will work in line with the site’s core activities, ensuring compliance with process, chemical and biological safety requirements. Acting as an SME, you will advise leaders on safety and environmental standard methodology and ensure appropriate EHS practices and measures are embedded across the site, and which drive appropriate culture and behaviours. You will also indirectly manage the site EHS representatives to ensure a consistent approach and practices across the site.Understand, maintain, and update compliance records in order to demonstrate compliance with UK environmental, safety and sustainability legislation applicable to the site.Lead/participate in EHS investigations in a timely manner and ensure any remedial actions are shared effectively. Recommend actions to address safety, regulatory and licensing considerations for future business activities.Develop policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance and focus and to deliver continuous improvements.Partner with site leadership to ensure awareness of their specific EHS responsibilities towards people on site and provide relevant training for workers and designated EHS representatives.Partner with site leadership to ensure all significant EHS risks are identified and assessed, and that appropriate risk control measures are implemented, maintained, and monitored.Collaborate closely with Trade Union, Company insurers and their agents on matters relating to EHS on site.Liaise with local People & Culture team in the effective use of Occupational Health resources.Perform other work-related duties as assigned.What you’ll need to succeedA current, formal health and safety qualification, such as IOSH, NEBOSH or NVQ Level 5.Proven experience of leading EHS within a manufacturing and laboratory environment.Demonstrable understanding and application of sustainability initiatives and measures.Solid understanding of process, biological and chemistry safety requirements.Extensive understanding and application of regulatory requirements with demonstrated experience of driving a safety culture.Demonstrated experience of implementation of standard methodologies, policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring consistency of application.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and make sound decisions.Strong numerical and PC skills.Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders both within and outside of the site.What We Offer:Competitive SalaryYearly Salary ReviewsAttractive Pension SchemeBonus SchemeLife AssurancePrivate Medical (If applicable)Cycle to Work SchemeFree Onsite GymSubsidised Canteen25 days Holidays + 8 Bank Holidays (Milestone Increases Available)OneOrtho DayLinkedIn LearningEmployee Assistance ProgrammeReward & Recognition ProgrammesState-Of-The-Art facilitiesExceptional career developmental prospectsStrong culture centred around collaboration & customer focus.#LI-RP1
