Telford is a large town in Shropshire. It resides 30 miles west of Birmingham and has a population of over 160,000. Telford is the largest town in Shropshire, and is a fast-growing new town which was built in the 1960s and named after Thomas Telford, the famous civil engineer.

The Iron Bridge was the first bridge of its size to be made out of cast iron and was built in 1779. The Ironbridge gorge can be found nearby, which was formed by the River Severn and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Telford has three railway stations and shares good transport links with the rest of the UK. It is connected to the main road network via the M54 motorway and the A5. Telford lies within an easily commutable distance to the city of Birmingham should residents wish to work outside the town.
