To provide coordinated leadership and supervision through kitchen Supervisors, to the Food Services team; ensuring delivery of food production and food service to patients, staff and visitors at Lynfield Mount Hospital, Airedale Centre for Mental Health and any other setting as required by service commitments across the Bradford & Airedale district.
Operational management role which includes line management of kitchen staff, maintaining standards in line with Food Safety and Hygiene Legislation and Trust Policy, completion of staff rotas, monitoring of sickness and absence, dealing with disciplinary matters, recruitment and selection of staff, fact finding, file-note completion and updating electronic staff records.
To coordinate, manage and provide leadership to the Food Services supervisory teams and Food Services staff in order to ensure the highest degree of service continuity.
To coordinate staff, stock levels, equipment and materials to ensure the highest possible standards of food hygiene and service delivery.
To ensure that kitchen systems are maintained and followed at all times, recognising areas for change and implementing new standard operating procedures where necessary ensuring compliance with: o Food Safety Act 1990
o Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013
o Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE)
Formulate standard recipes for all menu items and ensure all staff work to agreed recipes
Be involved in menu planning and develop menus for patients, visitors and staff as required
To support the Facilities Manager and Operations Manager, Food Services with direct line management of the Food Services Team.
To complete staff rotas in advance and verify staff hours worked on a weekly basis.
To support supervisors and team in provision of adequate staff cover for planned and unplanned absences and to liaise with relevant agencies to cover any staff shortages caused through annual leave, sickness, absence or vacancies. Staff cover to be booked and authorised using the agreed booking system.
To support Supervisors to monitor staff annual leave, sickness and absence information and accurately update electronic systems / local records accordingly. To coordinate annual leave allowance to ensure service requirements are met and to ensure attendance records are completed by staff.
To be responsible for the sickness and absence management process. To assist in completing workplace meetings, to take notes and issue correspondence in line with the Trusts sickness and absence policy when required. To liaise with Employee Health and Wellbeing when necessary and formally discuss return to work strategies with staff under the support of the Operations Manager Food Services. To complete referrals and outcome letters in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.
To maintain operational oversight, ensuring the highest standards of food service delivery, quality, timings of service, menu management
To ensure standard operating procedures and protocols and safe systems of work documentation is monitored, reviewed and updated
To assist with the first stage of staff disciplinary matters including taking part in the 'fact find' process when necessary. To be the initial contact for staff during difficult personal and emotional circumstances. To take notes during staff disciplinary meetings and issue correspondence in line with the Trusts HR policies under the direction and supervision of the Operations Manager Food Services.
THIS IS A 6 MONTHS ROLE WITH THE VIEW OF EXTENSION. HOURS OF WORK WILL BE 37.5 HOURS EACH WEEK (Monday-Friday 8am-4pm). This role is subject to a DBS clearance.
