The Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) is the 4th oldest working eye hospital in the world and one of the largest in Europe. MREH provides care to over 6 million people and is housed in a new state of the art facility equipped with the latest diagnostic and surgical facilities.
Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term post (renewable long term) for specialty doctor with a specialist interest in medical retina in the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital; the largest provincial ophthalmic unit in the UK.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to assist with the day-to-day running of our busy medical retina service. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a medical retina centre of excellence, in one of the only two dedicated Eye Hospitals in the UK, with a track record of excellence in clinical quality and innovation. The core focus will be support for the macular treatment service at more than one site. MREH has led the way in the innovative delivery of macular treatments; over 2000 patients are reviewed each month through a network of four sites including hospital and community locations on the high street. All treatment options and medical retina disease indications are treated. The service is backed up by all the latest diagnostics including fluorescein/ICG angiography, widefield imaging and OCT angiography. All types of retinal laser including multispot lasers are in use in the department. You will be rewarded with an excellent professional and personal experience with support for continued professional development.
The successful applicant will join and complement the existing team in this subspecialty area. Applicants should have GMC Registration, Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists or equivalent and experience in a medical retina service.
