HealthHarmonie Ltd work in partnership with a number of NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups nationwide to provide patients with access to community services closer to their home, these include; Diagnostic Ultrasound, Gynaecology Services, diagnosis and treatment of Dermatological conditions, Ophthalmology services and the provision of extended Minor surgery procedures.

Job title: Cryotherapy Nurse – Staffordshire


Dermatology Nurse to provide expert advice related to specific dermatology conditions or treatment pathways. The nurses focus will be on improving patient care and developing services.


The main purpose of the role will be to ensure smooth running of Community based Dermatology clinics and providing specialist clinical support to Consultants, GPwSI, and Associate Specialists. Providing education and clinical support to patients and referring GPs/sources within the cryotherapy discipline.


  • Demonstrates knowledge of structure and function of skin

  • Understands the indications for performing cryotherapy

  • Selects and prepares appropriate equipment for cryotherapy

  • Selects a suitable size nozzle for the spray gun and can discuss reasons for that choice

  • Effectively prepares patient physically and psychologically for the procedure

  • Safely and effectively performs cryotherapy using spray gun

  • Demonstrates knowledge of freeze – thaw cycles and their function

  • Can state possible complications of cryotherapy

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assemble equipment

  • Identify correct patient

  • Confirm lesions to be treated, note any cautions to be aware of.

  • Check lesions visually and if appropriate touch (wear gloves)

  • Explain procedure to the patient Position patient comfortably

  • Put on apron / gloves, position dressing towel

  • Pare area if needed Carry out ‘freezing’ following criteria instigated by Consultant

  • Apply dressing if necessary.

  • Give advice both verbally and in written form re side effects

  • Reassure patient throughout the procedure

  • Arrange follow up appointment if required

  • Follow COSHH regulations / department guidelines in the use of liquid Nitrogen (see Appendix 1) Record all treatment in patient’s medical notes.

  • Assisting within other dermatology related services

  • Clinicians & Colleagues

  • Host Site staff and personnel

  • Stakeholders

  • Clients including GPs and Commissioner


40 Hours Per week (Mon-Sat)




The successful applicant will have excellent clinical, written, verbal and telephone communication skills combined with experience of working in a role which requires a high attention to detail and the requirement to follow laid down procedures.  The ability to manage your time effectively and IT literacy (Microsoft office packages and in-house systems) are also essential.

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing

  • Dermatology experience including, Cryotherapy and Phototherapy experience


  • Qualification in teaching and assessing in clinical practice

  • Counselling skills

  • Extended Independent Nurse Prescriber

  • Driver

  • Additional Experience and qualifications related to Dermatology
