Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Would you like to progress your career in a large specialist acute hospital? We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our acute team delivering high quality care at Aintree Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post would suit an established band 6 looking to further develop their specialist skills in an acute environment or a suitably experienced band 5. The successful applicant will have a good level of experience working in an adult acute environment and managing a busy dysphagia caseload. You will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and have a good understanding of MDT working.
This is a rotational post that provides opportunities to develop skills and experience across a wide range of specialities with the opportunity for areas of personal special interest to be supported. The post will include some of the following areas;
- Acute Surgical and Medical Wards
- Critical Care
- Major Trauma Centre
- Elderly Medicine and Stroke In-patient Services
- Regional Head and Neck Cancer Unit (in-patients and out-patients)
- Voice outpatient clinics.
We provide an environment that enables close day to day working with support from senior specialist staff to develop your knowledge and skills. You will have access to peer support, regular supervision, and training opportunities including tracheostomy and videofluoroscopy. You will take part in and lead service development, audit, and research. The post holder will be actively involved in the support and development of others including Band 5 SLTs, Therapy Assistants, and Students. You will also have the opportunity to provide training sessions within the wider MDT.
You will be working as part of a friendly, dynamic and supportive Speech and Language Therapy team who are committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care.
