Brief Description of the Role:
A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Optometrist to join the Ophthalmology Team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust, where you will become the Head Optometrist of a team of eight to ten optometrists.
The optometry service predominantly undertakes a wide range of co-management clinics in support of the Ophthalmology Department. This includes the independent assessment and co-management of patients in the following areas: glaucoma, cataract, diabetic eye disease, macular diseases, cornea and acute referral. Other core optometry services, including paediatric refraction and corneal topography, are also central to the service. As Head Optometrist, you will have a personal clinical involvement in these areas as well as providing leadership and management to the rest of the optometry team.
You will also contribute to the business and financial management of the wider ophthalmology department and to service development, alongside the hospital managers and Consultant Ophthalmologists.
Other responsibilities are in the areas of audit and governance, training, teaching and research, as well as collaboration with primary care optometrists and other healthcare professionals.
We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is able to lead a team and work as part of a wider team in the delivery of a range of comprehensive optometric services. This is an exciting opportunity to continue and further develop the services currently provided by hospital optometrists to the Ophthalmology Department as a whole.
