Brief Description of the Role:
The opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our team on ward 5 Surgical Day Case Unit.
Ward 5 is a busy surgical day case unit accommodating up to 60 patients per day. The majority of surgical patients are planned day case procedures but patients having elective major surgery are also admitted to ward 5 and are then transferred from theatre to the overnight stay wards. In addition to this patients attend ward 5 for bladder chemotherapy and venesection. Ward 5 also supports waiting list initiatives on allocated weekends.
Previous surgical experience is preferable, however, not essential. Newly qualified applicants will also be welcome. Applicants will need to show an interest in this area of practice and a commitment to the service in delivering quality and individual care to patients.
Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:
You must be a registered RGN. The successful applicant must be reliable, punctual and be able to accommodate a flexible shift pattern. Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage time and prioritise workload. Capable to keep calm and work under pressure in a demanding area using team work
Additional skills such as cannulation and phlebotomy and ECG recording would be a benefit
A structured preceptorship period of training and development will be provided with the support of the training department.
