This is a Team Leader role in an established service supporting adults with learning disabilities. On a day to day basis you will manage shifts. You will be managing and leading a team of care & support workers in service. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory and business requirements, while delivering excellent, personalised, value for money services to customers.
The primary objective of the service is to ensure that we are providing a safe and warm environment where customers can thrive and remain independent. The team offer support that prompts and encourages each customer to complete daily tasks on their own and to the best of their ability. The team leader is key to promoting this positive behavior in the team and be a key member of staff.
This role requires shift work including weekends and bank holidays, but no sleep-ins. You will be required to undertake both admin work and providing support to customers.
Meet your customers
This service is home to 13 adults with various learning disabilities each with individual requirements and support plans. It provides individual rooms and large communal areas which are well utilised. The customers are all involved with a number of activities in the local community including college and clubs. This is a vibrant house where customers are keen to be involved in activities and be social with support workers.
In addition the service provides short term respite care for 3 additional customers at a time.
This is a first step into managing people and you will need to demonstrate the ability to lead by example. While previous management experience is not essential, as we will support those looking to develop, you must demonstrate the ability to supervisor others. In addition you will be able to manage your time effectively and have a clear understanding of risk management and safeguarding.
As you will be the senior member of staff when the Care Manager is nor working you will need substantial experience of supporting vulnerable adults with learning difficulties. This should include developing support plans and working with relevant third parties and family members. You will be required to undertake a number of admin tasks that supports the effective running of the home so good IT and organisation skills are required.
In addition you must be prepared to go on holiday for up to a week once a year with customers. This would be part of your work schedule and funded, but will require staying away.
